Intertek China Laboratories Awarded ISO 17025 Accreditation
Five Intertek Laboratories Awarded ISO 17025 Accreditation in China
Intertek has been awarded ‘ISO 17025’ accreditation by the China National Accreditation Service (CNAS) for five (5) laboratories in China. ISO 17025 accreditation demonstrates that the laboratories’ operate under a quality management system that display competency to carry out tests and/or calibrations, including sampling. It also covers testing and calibration performed using standard methods, non-standard methods, and laboratory-developed methods.
The laboratories are located in Shanghai, Caojin, Dongguan, Huizhou and Tianjin and provide important quality testing to the local energy and oil and gas industries at key locations in China.

What is Laboratory Outsourcing?
A Definition of Laboratory Outsourcing:
Lab outsourcing usually involves an independent testing company assuming quality control testing, R&D or other analytical services associated with an in-house laboratory located at or near an industrial sites, such as manufacturing plants, chemical plants, refineries, corporate research centers, food processors, mining and other business.
In many cases the existing laboratory, staff and instrumentation are transferred to Intertek and continue to provide the same services as before outsourcing. In other situations the location is moved. In all cases the services are provided at a lower total-cost to the customer.

To better capture rapid growth opportunities in certain sectors and to increase the focus on customers in their specific industries, from 1 January 2008 Intertek is organized into seven divisions: Consumer Goods; Commercial &Electrical; Analytical Services; Minerals; Oil, Chemical & Agri Cargo; Industrial Services; and Government Services. The structural changes increase Intertek's ability to capture market opportunities in the industries and regions served by the company, further strengthening Intertek's leadership in these areas.
The growth and diversification of services offered by the Oil, Chemical and Agri Division (OCA, Caleb Brett) over the last 5 years has resulted in the creation of three divisions:

Mark Loughead, previously Executive VP for the Oil, Chemical and Agri Division, has been promoted to Intertek Group Chief Operating Officer.
